The Centre for Bulk Solids and Particulate Technologies is a world leader in applied and fundamental research in Bulk Materials Handling. It was established in 1995 as one of a prestigious handful of national Key Centres for Teaching and Research and is a collaborative initiative between the University of Newcastle and the University of Wollongong. It unifies two strong streams of expertise in Bulk Solids Handling and Particulate Technologies developed over a period of more than 35 years.
The Centre has an ongoing commitment to research and is funded through research grants from such bodies as the Australian Research Council and Industry. It is actively involved in both, fundamental and applied research on a wide range of problems associated with Bulk Solids & Particulate Technology. The research areas include storage, flow, processing and transportation of bulk solids. Besides the research activities, the Centre is also dedicated to teaching and industrial training and provides specialist courses for industry through its professional development programs.
